HURRICANE OTIS: CURRENT SITUATION

At 9:42 p.m. US Pacific Time, Hurricane Otis was located 150 kilometers south of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. The cyclone had maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour, gusts of 160 kilometers per hour and a central pressure of 960 hectopascals.

Otis was moving northwest at 12 kilometers per hour. The hurricane is forecast to make landfall in Guerrero between 12:00 and 18:00 on Wednesday, October 25, as a Category 3 hurricane.

Expected impact

Otis will cause torrential rains in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas. Accumulations of up to 500 millimeters of rain are expected in some areas, which could cause flooding, landslides and landslides.
